A work of art that visualizes an office building’s green systems: The Beacon, at Pittsburgh’s PNC Tower, is a data-and-light installation that interprets info from the building’s advanced green systems. Using 1,536 liquid-crystal polycarbonate panels, each backed with a grid of low-resolution LEDs, it translates this data into ever-changing patterns of light, color and sound.
