ESI created a bold building identity and designed lobbies with vibrant media and rough luxury to celebrate the spirit and style of Denver’s RiNo Arts District.
Opportunity: With a prime location in the River North (RiNo) Arts District of Denver, the new Hub complex is poised to set the trend for future commercial development in the area. Beacon Capital tasked ESI with designing lobbies for both The Hub South (pictured here) and The Hub North (under construction) that connect the buildings to the buzzy surrounding area.
Solution: ESI developed a design inspired by RiNo past and present, infusing The Hub with an atmosphere of artistic vibrancy.
We created a building logo that incorporates the angular forms of the architecture. In the lobby, we used vibrant colors to promote an active, contemporary feel, and left exposed select interior architecture to reference the area’s industrial past. We sourced the furniture, fashioned in wood and metal, from local craftspeople.
The centerpiece of the design is a media triptych that seems at times to be a still image, then mesmerizes passersby as it slowly comes to life. The installation celebrates local muralists and Denver scenery using innovative image-blending software called Style Transfer. Applying artificial intelligence, the “style” of one image is “transferred” to a second moving image or video.
ESI coordinated with the RiNo Arts Council and local artists to incorporate images of iconic murals from the neighborhood. Other photo and video source materials feature local RiNo landmarks, Colorado scenery, and mountain sports, like biking and skiing.
Result: Our design allows this ground-up development to have an authentic connection to a neighborhood with a proud industrial history and a vibrant creative community.
“We are attracting people and companies that want to bring their business to a place that breaks out of the mold and inspires them.”
