For the company’s new hub located in Boston’s entertainment district on Causeway entertainment district, Verizon tasked ESI with designing building-wide installations that would leverage their technical platforms and express their brand innovation while inspiring ingenuity, attracting talent and partnerships, and distinguishing this new building on the Boston skyline.
Solution: ESI identified four key areas of the building with the greatest potential to deliver an unforgettable experience: the exterior, the entrance, the main lobby, and the workfloor-specific Sky Lobby. These activations are intended to captivate people at key touchpoints and inspire them to continue their journey through the various spaces. Ultimately, each design weaves together to tell a holistic story that invites people to engage with Verizon’s innovative impact and feel empowered to share their own groundbreaking ideas.
Result: On the building’s exterior ‘crown,’ color patterns project across Boston, enticing people with vivid stories about local activities and special events, from holidays like Patriot’s Day, to Boston Celtics games at the TD Garden. As people approach the exterior canopy of the building, they are welcomed by bespoke lighting and dynamic sensors that respond to their movement. The canopy lighting is synchronized with a responsive LED media canvas inside the main lobby that manifests the innovative energy of Verizon and invites people into an experience that celebrates creativity. At the Sky Lobby, which serves as the entrance to workfloors for Verizon employees and guests, acoustic panels and integrated surround speakers create an immersive auditory threshold. Employees and guests register a new sound atmosphere when they cross this threshold on their way to the workfloors, with soundscapes that leverage Verizon’s distinct sonic brand providing a unique and playful experience.
